The 8th and 9th of March brought 1000 delegates, 120 speakers, 43 exhibitors and a veritable number of kale chips to the iconic Roundhouse for Youth Marketing Strategy 2016. Here are some of the team's favourite moments:
Simon Eder, Founder:
"There are so many memories from YMS this year - more than enough to sustain us for another year! What I enjoy most about the event is always seeing the number of connections that are made and the ideas that are sparked in the room. That is as much about the content itself as the networking opportunities and entertainment interspersed throughout.
"If I am to pick one highlight - it would be speaking to audience members, listening to feedback about how YMS can meet the industry's needs. This of course sparks all sorts of creative ideas to build on the foundations for next year. And I just can't wait for us to lift the lid on some awesome plans to make #YMS17 bigger, better, more awesome than ever!"
Joe Watson, Sponsorships Manager:
"I'm probably cheating, but I have two highlights. The first one happened on day one. After rushing around setting up the networking balcony for hours before kickoff, I was finally able to catch my breath at around 10.30. I peered down from the balcony and witnessed a full auditorium of attendees, eyes fixated on the speaker. The audience, enraptured, were sitting in silence, their full attention on the main stage. I thought to myself, "Wow, this is really happening." The months of work we've put into the event have finally become reality, and what a reality it had become.
"The second one happened on day two. Lunch had such a great vibe, there were ice-cold Kopparberg ciders flowing, awesome entertainment from Beatfreeks and the Roundhouse on stage and I had simply the best mac 'n' cheese I've ever had in hand. I don't think you can get much more 'icing on the cake' than that."
Lauren Dagger, Delegate Sales Executive:
"My biggest highlight of #YMS16 was getting to meet the clients I had been speaking with over the phone for months. I had lovely conversations with the delegates from Lush, British Red Cross and Threesixty Developments (so shout out to you guys!)
"It was a blast manning the Voxburner stand. I got to make some amazing connections and hand out the Youth Trends and Youth 100 reports, two pieces of content the team are really proud of. I had a great time, what a great two days!"
Brenda Wong, Marketing Executive:
"I had the absolute pleasure of working closely with the tech crew during the event, bringing the main stage to life with presentations and panels we've been coordinating for months. It's a small moment for most perhaps, but turning down the music and playing the first keynote to kick off #YMS16 was such an amazing feeling.
"I watched every single panel and presentation in the Roundhouse (what a venue) and each one brought the insights and knowledge I and many others have been waiting for all year. And I had the best seat in the house."
Richard Jackson, Global Partnerships Director:
"Who could forget the One Young World highlights video our chair Kate Robertson kindly shared with us. The #YMS16 audience are a plugged-in one, you rarely see them without their devices. But for 4 whole minutes the crowd put their iPhones down and watched an truly inspirational film about the young people we're doing this all for. And for that one moment, the whole audience were reminded of the real reason why we were all gathered at the Roundhouse that day: to empower young people to live their best lives."
