Voxburner research has revealed that 87% of UK and 82% of US Gen Zers exercise regularly, whilst 82% say sport is important to them (65% US). However, the industry is falling short when it comes to equal and diverse representation.
Only 25% of UK young people would associate the word ‘inclusive’ with sports, whilst only 29% from the US would associate it with ‘diverse’. The challenge here falls in representation. If young people can’t see themselves represented, whether that be on the court, screen or on their For You Pages, they’re unlikely to engage with sports and the intersecting industries. We have a responsibility to connect with young people, open up opportunities and represent them all.
